Paintings and sculptures

During my studies, I attended evening classes at the art academy in Utrecht. Model and portrait studies in drawing, pastels, watercolours and oils; sculpting; etching; and lithography.
Oil paint is the medium in which I can express myself the best. Especially with the old 17th century glazing technics of putting transparent layers of paint on each other. Rembrandt is my master in this, and I painted in his style to learn from him.
I also attended classes to learn to make my own paint in the way of the old masters.
The Cosmos-series is inspired by photographs of the Hubble space telescope.
